Mute the Specific WhatsApp Contacts or Chats on iPhone

Though in the previous article, we've shown you how to block contacts on iPhone WhatsApp, there are two differences between muting and blocking:

1. Blocking allows you to add multiple contacts into the blocked section and you won't get messages from the blocked contacts anymore. While muting is just to silently receive the messages without notifying you.
2. Muting has a expire time like 8 hours, 1 week and 1 year, while blocked contacts can send you messages once it is move out from the blocked list.

How to Mute Specific Contacts on WhatsApp

Step 1. Choose the specific contacts you want to mute and slide the chats to left to get an option. Then, you will see "More" and "Archive" as shown below. Choose "More" and move on.

Step 2. Then, you will get a pop-up list. Choose "Mute" from the options.

Step 3. Now, you can choose how long you would like to mute this contact. You can choose "8 hours", "1 week" or "1 year".

That's it. You can follow the same steps and choose "Unmute" to unmute the contacts when you want to stop.

Anytime when you break up with your boyfriend and he keeps WhatsApp you rather than come to your house to say sorry, you can mute him on WhatsApp and unmute it when you finally make up,lol.
