How to Retrieve Deleted Text Messages on iPhone

Tutorial 1: Retrieve text messages from iPhone 6 Plus/6/5s

Step 1. Connect iPhone 6 Plus to PC
To begin with, download iPhone Data Recovery on your computer. Then, you will be asked to connect your iPhone 6 Plus to the computer via USB cable. Click start and your iPhone 6 Plus will be detected within few seconds.

After your iPhone detected, the deleted messages will be scanned out and listed in the interface. The process bar will show you how far the process goes.

Step 3. Preview and recover text messages from iPhone
All the text messages on your iPhone, including the deleted(in red) and existing(in grey) ones will be displayed in the interface. You can turn on "Only display the deleted items(s)" at the top of the interface to show the deleted SMS only.

Tutorial 2: Restore text messages via iTunes backup

Step 1. Choose "Recover from iTunes Backup File"
Firstly, choose the second recovery mode "Recover from iTunes Backup File". Then, you will see that all the iTunes backup files on this computer are all scanned out and listed in the window as below. You just need to choose the backup file that you want it to be scanned by clicking the "Start Scan" button.

Note: This is extremely helpful if your USB cable doesn't work or you don't have your iPhone with you, you can restore the deleted iPhone text messages from the iTunes backup file you done before.

Step 2. Preview text messages and attachments from iTunes
After that, all your messages together with messages attachments will be scanned out. You can tick those you want and click "Recover" to restore the text messages.

Tutorial 3: Recover text messages from iCloud

Step 1: Sign in iCloud
Launch iPhone Data Recovery on your computer and choose "Recover from iCloud Backup File". Then, you will see the windows asking you to enter your Apple ID and password to sign in.

Step 2. Download iCloud Backup of your iPhone 6 Plus
After signing in your iCloud account, you will see the iCloud backup files listed automatically. Then, click "Download" next to the backup file you'd like to recover.

Step 3. Restore iPhone 6 Plus SMS from iCloud
After downloading the backup, you can preview the backup file and choose "Messages" to have text messages listed. Then, tick those you want and click "Recover".
