We have dozens of build-in apps and third-party apps installed on our Android. This will not only take up lots of storage, but also dread our Android battery quickly. These apps will still running in background on your Android even if you think you've turned it off. In this article, we will show you how to stop apps from running in background on Android phone. This is based on Android 6.0. You can try the similar steps on your Android phone/tablet.

Firstly, you can check and see which apps kill the most battery on your Android.
Go to "Settings" > "Battery" and you will see the apps sorted according to the battery percentage that has killed. You can browse the apps and stop them from running in the background.

Note: You can uninstall the apps which has dread lots of battery if you don't use them frequently according to this report.

Part 2: Stop Apps from Running in Background

Go to "Settings" > "Apps" and choose an app that kill most battery on your Android phone. Let's take Chrome browser for example. Choose "Chrome" from the interface and you will be shown the info of this app. Tap on "FORCE STOP" to stop the apps from running in the background. If it is the app that you don't want to use any more, you can choose "DISABLE" to disable the app as you wish.
